ADHD & RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria

CE Hours 1

About this course

This self-paced, online course provides a comprehensive exploration of the intricate relationship between Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD). Designed for mental health professionals, educators, coaches, and individuals with ADHD, this course offers in-depth insights into the neurological underpinnings of both conditions and provides practical, evidence-based strategies for assessment, intervention, and self-management. RSD is a term used to describe an extreme emotional sensitivity and pain triggered by the perception of being rejected, criticized, or a sense of failure. While not an official diagnosis in the DSM-5, it is a commonly reported and debilitating experience for many individuals with ADHD. This course will demystify RSD, explaining its connection to ADHD's executive function deficits and emotional dysregulation. You will also learn to help clients or yourself manage your RSD symptoms.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the neurological and psychological mechanisms that contribute to RSD in individuals with ADHD.
  • Identify the key symptoms and behavioral manifestations of RSD.
