Practice of Telepsychology

CE Hours 3

About this course

This comprehensive 3-hour course provides psychologists and mental health professionals with a rigorous framework for the ethical and clinical delivery of remote services. As digital mental health becomes a standard of practice, clinicians must navigate a complex landscape of evolving technology, interjurisdictional regulations, and heightened security requirements. Grounded in the APA Guidelines for the Practice of Telepsychology, this training moves beyond the basics of "how to use a webcam." Participants will dive deep into the nuances of maintaining a standard of care equivalent to in-person treatment, including the management of high-risk clinical situations from a distance. Key Focus Areas: Professional Boundaries & Competence: Assessing both therapist and client readiness for tele-modalities. The Ethics of Privacy: Managing informed consent, data encryption, and the secure disposal of "digital footprints" and hardware. Clinical Validity: Evaluating the efficacy and limitations of remote psychological testing and assessment tools. Legal Landscape: Navigating the complexities of practicing across state lines, understanding PSYPACT, and adhering to the laws of the client's physical location. This course is designed to equip practitioners with the technical knowledge and ethical foresight necessary to protect their patients, their practice, and their licensure in a digital world. Course At-A-Glance Format: On-demand or Live Webinar CE Credits: 3.0 Hours Prerequisites: None Instructional Level: Intermediate

Course Instructor(s)

  • George Sachs PsyD

Dr. George Sachs, PsyD, is a board-certified clinical psychologist, author, and pioneering leader in the field of neurodiversity. As the founder of Manhattan-based The Sachs Center and co-founder of the science-based ADHD app Inflow, Dr. Sachs has spent over two decades evolving the treatment of ADHD and Autism beyond the traditional medical model. His holistic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with mindfulness, nutrition, and executive function coaching, a philosophy rooted in his belief that neurodivergent individuals thrive best within a supportive ecosystem rather than through attempts to "fix" their unique brain wiring.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sachs serves as the Clinical Director of Inflow, where he translates years of private practice expertise into a global digital platform that empowers users to manage symptoms like procrastination and impulsivity through evidence-based tools. A prominent thought leader and author of books such as The Adult ADHD Treatment Program, his insights are frequently featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and NBC News. What truly distinguishes Dr. Sachs is his personal lived experience with ADHD, which fuels his empathetic, "by ADHDers, for ADHDers" mission to reduce stigma and help individuals leverage their neurodivergent strengths to lead fulfilling lives.
